    Not off to a good start

    by jbonavita » Tue Jan 06, 2015 6:31 pm

    We launched our campaign on 12/31/14. We've had some interest in watching the video but not too many backers yet. I think our biggest mistake was not doing premarketing or having backers lined up for the initial go live .
    Our press release should be out soon, but I think it might be too late by then.

    From what I can tell, it seem that the more backers there are, the more likely people are to become backers. But the fewer backers there are, the fewer people are willing to become backers.

    We have 19 days remaining and still haven't found a great way to drive people to the campaign. Any suggestions?

    How much marketing was done? Why type?

    I took a quick glance at the project -- the project page is very 'loud': it has a lot of pictures, seems somewhat cluttered with all of these images and makes the viewers confused as to what your project is really about.

    Sometimes I will browse the various projects on Kickstarter so when I say this, I am not the only one who does this:

    When I look at a Kickstarter page (after they have sold me on the catchy title/img and description) I let the page load (obviously), I will click on the video to begin playing: two things could happen here

    A) There is music that catches my ear, and I will continue to watch the video because I like the song also and it gives the video that much more emphasis

    B) There is no music/ music that doesnt catch my ear, and I will instantly begin to do a 'power-scroll' down the page of the project -- If i don't see any interesting images (that are easy to look at and not clustered) I will quickly turn my head to the rewards section (while the video still plays).

    I went with option B on yours --- and because the images were cluttered, I went straight to the rewards --- which all I saw were generic gifts you get from every shopping website...

    Ive been listening to the video as I type the last bit of this message and it doesn't feel 'family-ish' -- if this is a family owned company wanted to promote their game, why do I have the average joe voice describing him?

    Best of luck,

    MochShot

    Yea, I agree, the more backers that you have, the more willing interested parties will be in checking out your video and rewards.

    @MochShot - I appreciate your comments. As for the rewards, do you have any suggestions? Since we offer games, we don't have much to offer other than game credits and game related rewards.

    Kickstarter is a bit frustrating I'm starting to realize, especially with all the pr scams that I've been slammed with. I've heard to many iffy things about these companies.

    From what I understand, there is a period called the "plateau" in which in the middle of the campaign, things slow down. Mine is at that point too right now ;______;
