The film tells the story of a rubber plantation worker in Liberia, and his daily struggle to support his family. A chance meeting results in his being able to leave everything behind in pursuit of a better life in New York City. But here, he finds he can't escape his past, and is forced to confront anew his own sense of self and belonging.
