Hi there,

My name is Ryan Lamb. I’m a former Army Special Operations soldier now working full time as an indie game developer in Salt Lake City.



I left the Army about 7 months ago to turn my hobby of game modding/programming into a profession. I've been modding games ever since Warcraft II gave us a map modding tool and I moved on to the Hammer editor, Quake, Pie in the Sky Game Creation Software etc. Of course that led to taking advantage of the more powerful engines available in recent years like UDK, Cryengine and Unity. When I left the Army I teamed up with a friend and my brother to found Shadowforge and now we’re creating a fantasy action-RPG title for the PC, MAC and Linux called ‘Blood and Snow’. I’m the lead programmer for the company and subsequently this game.

Please go check out our Kickstarter. I think you’ll find our prototype game teaser exciting and some of the features we are working on including skill based crafting, customizable weapons/mounts and spring physics-based melee combat to be very exciting.

We're excited to be able to post in a forum like this with people who are passionate about crowdfunding. The main reason that we're so excited about it is because we love the idea that our fan-base will be driving the production of the game instead of an investment company run by folks who probably don't know much about games.

Hey Ryan! Looks like a fun game, and I enjoyed checking out your Kickstarter page. I like that you want to include fans in the design process and how you incorporated that in your incentives, and how there isn't a hierarchy to the skills in the game. How's your campaign going so far?

It's going pretty well! We've raised 10% of our goal in 48 hours and the pledges keep rolling in. We have some blogs and podcasts coming up so hopefully that'll push a bit more traffic!

Feedback: I do think the video is a little long. What is your video completion/play rate like?

That's a pretty low completion rate. Usually I see 30-40% as normal.
