    Motorcycle Paintings Need a Kickstart

    by MotoPainter » Sat Nov 02, 2013 2:24 am

Hello I just post my project three days ago, and am seeking advice, review, or help. :)

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/865 ... int-launch

I have mostly been targeting motorcycle communities since that is who my primary audience would be. I am a traditionally train artist though and I don't want to be lumped into "biker art" So far I have posted to all of my blogs, website, facebook and any other social media site I am a member of. I have also gone around town and told people I know in the motorcycle community. But I'm wondering if there is more I could do. I still pretty new at promotion and would love to make my goal so I am asking your advice.

Also how do you get people to pledge? I have had quite a few people watch my video but not many pledges. I was wondering also if anyone had any data on pledge arc. Like maybe it's normal for things to start out slow, and then the momentum builds up?

Congrats on your new launch! You're definitely on the right track with marketing to motorcycle communities.

I can help answer a few of your questions and maybe some members can answer the others.

"I was wondering also if anyone had any data on pledge arc."

A lot of campaigns that I've seen will follow a the "kickstarter slump" where there is a lot of interest in the beginning of the campaign if they prepare quickly, there is less interest towards the middle, and then interest picks up again towards the end of the campaign. (as described here: http://www.crowdfundingpr.org/kickstarter-slump/). However, there are certainly examples of creators building momentum as they go.

I would recommend checking out this thread on "lessons learned" for information about video conversions. what-have-you-learned-from-running-a-kickstarter-campaign-t814-10.html
