40% Funded: Fine Art Portrait Prints - 1st Kickstarter

Hi everyone,

My name's Brian. I'm a 25 year old law PhD researcher from Cork, Ireland. That's the day job, but my passion is in art and literature. That's why I've set up my first kickstarter to produce a limited edition run of fine art prints of my portraits of Ireland's Nobel literature laureates.

I'm around 40% of the way through the campaign (time-wise) and it's currently around 40% funded. That said, it feels like it's getting more difficult to drum up support. The backer's that I've got entirely unsolicited (i.e. not directly through a tweet, forum post, personal mention, etc.) likely aren't enough to keep the momentum up on their own, so I'm looking for new ways or new places to get the word out. I'd also love any feedback on my campaign itself.

Thanks for taking the time to give this a look.

Amazing work! I'm not sure the pricing is right though, 25 euros for a print but 100 euros for the original? I think just selling originals would work better.

Best of luck!

Hi, thanks for your comment! On pricing, the cost for an original basically just covers my labour and materials. There's very little profit in that. The prints, whilst being more affordable for people who like my work, actually have a much higher profit margin, since they are produced in bulk (edition size of 50 in this case).

:) I understand the pricing of paintings and prints as I'm an artist myself. But I think in terms of making money from your campaign, the original drawings should be higher in price.

Looks great though.

Ah, I see. Sorry for misunderstanding your earlier post. All I can say to that is that I don't really have any name recognition, so I simply went with my time as a basis of valuing the originals. Just the one original has been selected so far, and the backer who went for it did pledge significantly more than the 100 minimum.
