Wooden Ties

Hi! My name is Collette and I just launched a Kickstarter campaign with my husband, who designs wooden products. We launched selling awesome wooden ties with the hope that we can build up his workshop and also travel to South Africa to volunteer with a wood shop that teaches troubled teens a trade so the teens can help themselves and their families reach greater economic prosperity.
Our target market is men ages 20-50 who are interested in higher-end fashion. Do you have any other suggestions for target markets?
We have reached out to a few blogs who are posting about our product, as well as making a presence through Facebook (check out our page: Cam's Designs) and Instagram. However we are certainly looking for ways to better reach out! We went live yesterday and have reached about 25% of our goal, but we are afraid that the support from our friends and family is limited and the pledges might start to wane.
We are really excited about our campaign, but are also extremely new to this and would love advice, help, and support.
Please check out our page and let us know what you think! Are there any questions that the market might have about the product that we can answer on our page?

Hi, it's a little bit weird, but there might be a niche for it.

My opinion what lets down the campaign is the elastic neckpiece. This reminds me a bit of cheap elastic ties or clip on's, it sort of feels that you've got something so intricate as a detailed wooden tie and then the connecting elastic that binds it together makes it doesn't seem so professional.

The campaign says it's lightweight, but how heavy are the ties?

Regarding your target market, businessmen would be good or Xmas stocking fillers (targeting women, mum's, grandmother's as a novelty gift).

Another quick question, it is waterproof? Would the wood warp/change over time or stain shirts?

Best of luck!

I love it, but how heavy are the ties?

Thank you dzintarz! Ernest, our ties actually weigh only about 2 ounces, so they are pretty light seeing as they are made from wood. I will include the weight on our campaign. Thank you for the advice!
Hyperstarter, thank you so much for your comments. The ties are covered with a varnish that makes them water resistant. But we have not seen any warping or damage to the ties despite being in rainy and snowy weather, and they don't stain your clothes at all. Do you think that would be something useful to include on our campaign's page?

Collettecook, I would definetly suggest you to include this in your campaign, this is a great advantage and brings a value to your customers.
Take a look how we have listed the main features in our Kickstarter campaign here: http://kck.st/2eLDJ5O

Sure Collette, do you want to message me on the site and we can sort some promotion out for you...

I agree with the members above, I think weight (non-staining etc.,) is very important and should be mentioned on the page + FAQ setup. I could give you other advice too.

Hi @collettecook, congratulations on your Kickstarter campaign! I may not be a familiar with your niche, however, in general, successful Kickstarter campaigns have common strategies. If you need tips and tricks on how to further promote your Kickstarter campaign, you can check out my thread on how my campaign (see: http://kck.st/2e4tb2z) raised $250,000 in less than 9 hours:
