Launching on the 4th of July weekend

I launched a project on July 1, the beginning of a 3-day weekend in the US. I was a little unsure about the timing, but discovered that my estimation of people's habits were correct: They leave early on Friday and have a lot of time to themselves. Shopping for food and fireworks is neither time consuming nor regimented. I saw a lot of traffic and the best first week for any project I have every run.
I'll add, I've never had a bad experience with crowdfunding over a holiday. Although it may seem like people are busier, I think Kickstarter backers have a way of finding time to search for projects and a holiday doesn't present any more of an obstacle than the duties of a work day or weekend plans.
What have your experiences been around holidays?
