Since I received a lot of positive feedback from my last article, 21 places to promote your kickstarter campaign, I decided to draw up a list of some of the awesome people involved in the crowdfunding industry and who are some of the biggest Kickstarter/Indiegog supporters. Feel free to reach out to them when you are looking to promote your campaign.

Please keep in mind, that you should always put yourself in the shoes of the other person when you are promoting your campaign. The next time you are going to put your self-interest first, stop, think about the interests guiding the person you are attempting to persuade, and then work from their interests back to yours. I really recommend the bestselling book How To Win Friends and Influence People. You can probably find it somewhere online for free if you look hard enough.

I talked a lot about this in 5 Kickstarter Mistakes You Should Avoid. Remember, no one likes spamming! Use twitter as a starting point to establish a relationship and then follow up with an email or call.

Hey Salvador, that was a great article, thanks! I just launched a campaign on Kickstarter yesterday and have been trying to find valuable information that helps to spread the word. The article was very helpful and led me on to connect with some good people and some really helpful advice. The main reason I'm contacting is because of something you said in this thread:

"Please keep in mind, that you should always put yourself in the shoes of the other person when you are promoting your campaign. The next time you are going to put your self-interest first, stop, think about the interests guiding the person you are attempting to persuade, and then work from their interests back to yours."

I suddenly realised that I was putting all my time and attention into working out ways I can get people to like my campaign and spread the word and had forgotten the concept of giving and sharing with others. Since then I've been inspired to search out others who are asking questions and looking for help or advice. I feel like I know exactly what I can do with my time now and it's enjoyable and rewarding. Thank you!

That was a great and helpful article. My project will start on the 21st. I am very happy that I found some sites where I can plug in and learn from those who have mastered this crowd funding thing. I am following all of the people you suggested. Thanks.

Glad this is helping everyone!!

I am launching a new service that lets campaign owners create a free press release for their campaign that will be indexed by google and serve as an easy link to share with journalists. In addition, I'll be tweeting out the top-ranked campaigns (most favorited or shared). The beta link is: http://www.crowdfundingpr.org
