These are not reasons to use a site. Just because a celebrity uses it means nothing. Could you address:

When a crowdfunding site might help with marketing a new idea or product

Why use a crowdfunding site rather than other venues such as ebay or easy

I've found crowdfunding websites are mostly bunked. They'll help a tiny amount but nothing noticeable.

I think it depends on what you are using the site for. I am actually using it as a literary platform to get my work out. My rose language is complex, so I am doing a series of Kickstarters. This way, I can keep tweeting new content every day (seehttp://www.tinyurl.com/tr-issue4 for the latest update).

Good article. I am using a fundraising website to increase awareness about my products, increase sales, raise money to be able to do bigger and better things but most importantly, I want to create more jobs in Africa.

This post makes it seem like all you have to do is put up a project and it will take care of itself. Guess if you have a huge Fanbase that might be true, but for someone like me with a small circle of Facebook friends and few Twitter followers, it is a lot of work. :D
