Campaign Timing

Hi everyone!

I'm preparing to launch a 30 day kickstarter for a baby product in mid September. I've done a TON of research and am knee deep in spreadsheets, email drafts, and other pre-launch work. My main question today is, what is the optimal timing of events as you prepare for a launch? For instance, should I wait to send any photos or videos of the product to media or bloggers until immediately before launch day? When should press releases be sent out to national and local media outlets? I've heard anywhere from 3 months out to 2 weeks out. Has anyone come across any articles that discuss this topic specifically?

I'd really appreciate any input on this. TIA!

Sat

Hi Sat - great questions. Did you hear back from anyone yet? I saw your post was moved to the question section, but couldn't find it there. Can you let me know if you received some input or send me the link to where your post is now located?

Many thanks,
Jock

I saw an article with pledged money by months and it seems that April, May and October, November are the best months to launch your project.

I don't know why it is this way but I read that Mondays are the best time to launch a project. It had to do with a new week starting. Guess some people don't like doing anything on the weekends lol

I watched an online course at Udemy.com that interviewed five or six successful Kickstarter founders and one of them said "launch on Tuesday, finish on Thursday" so that's what I'm doing. I think it's reasonably good advice but I have been surprised at the good flow of pledges during Friday and the weekend...

I think the start on Tuesday might make most sense for media attention, which we have not received really anyway...

Do you have the link of the interview by any chance?

this is the course I watched: https://www.udemy.com/hackkickstarter/ - I don't see the price but I have a feeling it might be between $100 and $200. I got it for free but it was pretty good...
