I also find this to be true. You should occassionally reward people for following you in some way.

"55% follow because they like the brand.
52% follow for special offers or promotions.
51% follow to stay up to date with news from the brand."

I think they forgot the awesome content that people put out, whether it's helpful or entertaining. A lot of brands are followed for these reasons.

Good article. To help with my campaign, I made a list of all my followers and the ones with most fan base. The goal is to retweet them, mention them etc... so that they will be willing to retweet/talk about your campaign. It is very time consuming and I am not doing as much as I should but it is a good practice I think.

Great point in the article, I agree with the majority of it and I would add that even if the company does all these things, it takes time and patience to build your audience, especially if the company or the brand are not recognizable. But bottom line is the content.

This forum has some great advice. I think giving a little something extra to our Twitter followers is a great concept. Now we just need to think how to implement it.

Giveaways are an amazing way to garner followers but it also garners non twitter users.

Getting more followers is something I have been focusing on the past couple of days and this article is perfect for it.
