I don't agree with his assertion that "technological progress is stalled," however, his thoughts about doing "one thing" better than anyone else in the world is definitely the recipe for success. I think a lot of entrepreneurs focus on trying to do too many things well, solving too many problems, or having too many features. Generally, the best products that get initial product-market fit do one thing extremely well, which is what launches the company.

I think that consumers like the ideal of having one thing that does it all so with that in mind, it is not such a bad idea to have a products or a service with many features. What do you think?

I think this is right but the temptation to do everything is always there. For me, there is the fear that I am making something too narrowly focused or specific.

Do one thing better than anyone else in the world may seem overwhelming. There's always going to be someone better than you at some one thing, so do one thing better than most, maybe? I think it's really hard to be the best at something, so personally, I'd rather focus on doing something different, or to just have a slightly different spin to a concept. I haven't read the whole book of the Blue Ocean Strategy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Ocean_Strategy], but I find the author's concept interesting.
For a product with lots of features versus specific, I think it just depends on the consumer. For some, a camera included in their cellphone is enough, but a device that is specifically a (dslr) camera can be 1000x times better.

I believe in "Do ONE thing better than anyone else." motto because this is what differentiates you from others and helps you or your business to stand out. And it doesn't mean you are better than others. And it helps an individual to truly acknowledge their own strengths.

Focusing on ONE thing is important but it is important to make sure your reach can go past that one thing.
