Choose yourself first (Seth Godin)

I really like this concept developed by Seth Godin of "Choosing yourself first," as he describes in this post: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog ... rself.html
Basically the concept is...why should you wait for someone else to pick you to be on their team? Why not create your own team?
If you're a novelist, why wait to be accepted by a major publishing house when you can get your work out there via the internet?
If you're a musician, you don't have to wait to be "chosen" by a big record label any more. You can put yourself out there pretty easily, thanks to social media and the internet.
"It's a cultural instinct to wait to get picked. To seek out the permission and authority that comes from a publisher or talk show host or even a blogger saying, "I pick you." Once you reject that impulse and realize that no one is going to select you--that Prince Charming has chosen another house--then you can actually get to work."
Great thoughts and very inline with Kickstarter. It will take you 30 seconds to read the blog post: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog ... rself.html
Let me know what you think!
