Kickstarting Oscar, Indie game about childhood troubles
Posted: Thu Mar 20, 2014 8:30 am
I'm pleased to be announcing Oscar, an independently developed title launched on Thursday, February 26th on Kickstarter. Oscar ships on PC/Mac Fall 2014.
"Through the lens of a silent narrative, players must unravel Oscar's troubled childhood as her struggles and coping mechanisms strain perspective between reality and fantasy."
Oscar is headed by experienced ex-Relic Entertainment and Blackbird Interactive employees, having been in development since 2011. The project is aimed at helping establish interactive media as a platform for addressing and raising awareness of real-life issues. While titles such as Gone Home have discussed everything from family dynamics to sexual orientation, Oscar seeks to convey problems children cannot understand or voice, in a way only video games can.
