This is a subreddit I replied to. Included my response below:

Resources:
- Paul Graham essays: http://paulgraham.com/articles.html
- Lean Startup: http://www.amazon.com/The-Lean-Startup- ... 0307887898
- Tim Ferriss's Blog has great tips: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/
- Andrew Chen's blog: http://andrewchen.co/

In a previous article, I put together 49 blogs I read that have helped understanding various aspects of internet marketing: http://www.crowdcrux.com/blogs-to-read- ... -campaign/

For me, the best way to learn was to read biographies and stories of successful entrepreneurs. It gives you an idea of how big companies actually start and the founder's approach.

Examples: Losing your virginity (richard branson), Steve Jobs' Biography, Andrew Carnegie's Biography, Rockefeller's Biography, Bill gates, etc.

I would also highly recommend start watching the pandomonthly interviews on youtube. Here's Airbnb's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yPfxcqEXhE

There are tons of advice websites online. But a "for dummies" book or something more concrete might be helpful. Also you could always talk to a local person who has done something similar. Nothing like personal experience.

Yea - Definitely support reaching out to local entrepreneurs. Makes the idea of building a startup much more concrete/attainable also.

Different perspectives are great and help a lot in not only formulating your ideas, but also positioning your brand in a way that is both attractive for you and your potential customers.

I like your suggestion. I typically read articles online and go to a lot of business meeting, surround myself with like minded people. Having a mentor is always great.
