Hey guys, my name is Philip J. I just launched my first kickstarter project several days ago. You can check it out at:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/st ... -world-cup. I am looking to raise funds to document the 2014 world cup in Brazil for a photography book. I just discovered this site today and im hoping to get some advice on how to improve the campaign and get it out there. I definitely know it needs a little fancying up.

Tip - Ask your friends and family to pledge first. No one wants to be the first person on the dance floor. Typically, family/friends/professional connections will make up 20-30% of a campaign's pledged funds

I agree. Pledges from the inner circle are what constitute alot of the final pledges. I'm learning this on my own just now as I'm running my Kickstarter campaign.

I guess it's jsut how crowdfunding structure works. Lots of good luck with your project and plz check out mine too

I would love to see what photos you take with your 35mm, I hope this works out for you. I would suggest adding photos you have taken from your past travels to your Kickstarter page, so we can see what style to expect. Or even add photos of Brazil if you can to see what your travels might look like. I know you added the website to see your photos but it didn't load any photos when I went to the link.

I really liked your black and white examples. Don't be discourage, my campaign is also in the same situation. Be positive and continue promoting your photography book. Good luck on your campaign!

Checked out your kickstarter, I would like a book, not sure if you put your experience on there so I can be confident you can get me a quality book at the finality.

I just started a Kickstarter campaign as well and I discovered that the initial bulk of your supporters come from family and friends. I think it's important to establish an online platform. Build a network using Facebook, Twitter and blogs like WordPress to help get the word out there about your project.

From the research I have done, it seems that the rewards structure for your backers plays a huge part in how much people want to done if at all. I think if you reworked that section of the project & made people feel like they are getting limited edition stuff or unique versions of the finished product people would be much more motivated to donate.
Just my two cents.
