Hmmm interesting read. I find it a lot harder to get people related to the arts talking about your work than it sounds like these people did with their product design. Wouldn't you say that different fields work differently?

Yes, categories vary widely. Some categories are more popular on Kickstarter, others have higher success percentages, and I've also noticed that certain categories (like books) tend to raise less from strangers than categories like design or gaming.

I read this article a couple weeks ago and we've implemented a lot of the tips and tricks offered. My favorite one is the landing page idea (
http://www.somawater.co/ksshare/) - So that when you share to your immediate contacts (friends, family, close bloggers, etc) they have a very easy time helping you out.
We're launching in early March so I'll let you know how it goes!

Wow fascinating, as a person who is not up to speed with web marketing and a person who is not brilliant with social media some of this is hard to understand, it seems like maybe to get great traction one part of a team for crowodfunding should be brilliant at online marketing which is fine in a tech based start up but harder in many other fields.....
Anyway very interesting all the same.

Interesting reading. Just not sure if I can apply that to a music studio recording project.

Yea - I like the landing page idea also. Wrote up a few reasons why (3 reasons to use a landing page for your Kickstarter project) - It spurred a bit of controversy:
http://www.crowdcrux.com/3-reasons-to-u ... -campaign/ @fitacello - Have you checked out any hypebot kickstarter posts or LaunchAndRelease.com?
@eugeneray - My thoughts: If by doing the campaign, you learn more about internet marketing and how to sell products online, I think that the learning experience would be more valuable than the actual campaign because it will continue to yield future dividends. If you outsource it or bring in someone else with that knowledge, you won't learn.
