I've just started on metformin and I'm having my wisdom tooth removed at the beginning of January. Will I have to be extra careful with what I eat over Christmas to get my sugar levels as good as possible so that my mouth will heal ok as I know that the healing process can take longer in diabetics and there can be complications? Or can I have a few treats as the metformin helps to lower the sugar levels? I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and tried to get my levels down through diet but haven't succeeded. I feel I don't get any guidance from my surgery, only the annual check and there's so much information on the internet, I don't know where to turn. Finding it really hard to know what to eat everyday.

I'm sorry for you. Everything will be fine. Since you have diabetes, you need to consider these things and not eat too many sugary foods. I'm sorry you don't get any guidance or advice for your operation. Why not try changing your dentist? This would be the best solution to find a correct answer to your question. I also had to remove my wisdom tooth, but in my case, everything was much easier because I had the specialists from https://smiledoctors.com/locations/irving-belt-line/ who helped me a lot to make sure everything went smoothly.
