Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew whether it was okay to use clips from hollywood and international movies to discuss a topic in my promotion video. If it's ok to do this, how would I go about citing the sources?

I imagine that it depends on the terms of service of the crowdfunding platform, but regardless, you could technically be sued for copyright infringement because you are using their content without their permission and are using it to make money indirectly.

Well the terms of service says I can't use copyright material in the project itself... but doesn't mention about in the promotion video. I'm making an action movie and wish to have a short opening sequence that talks about 'good' action movies that have been made while showing clips for examples.

I'm always very cautious when it comes to any form of copyright. I wouldn't risk it personally. If your audience are action film lovers then just mentioning the movies or even holding the dvd cases up should jolt images into their minds.
My personal, 'better safe than sorry' opinion.
