Suggestions wanted

On October 19, 2017, we lost my friend Stephen Groves to cancer. Steve was a brilliant artist and in the months since his passing, I have spoken to many people who wondered where they could get some of his art. Unfortunately, Steve had very, very few published works. Paralyzing self-doubt and addiction issues kept him from the success he and his talent deserved.

Over the past few months, I have, with the support and cooperation of his family, worked to put together a Kickstarter for a book of Steve's art. This Kickstarter went live on March 1.

I have been promoting it heavily this month, primarily through social media -- Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. However, I am afraid that I might miss connecting with some people who would be interested in participating. I also seem to be having trouble converting page visitors into contributors.

Therefore, I am soliciting any suggestions this community might have. I have read many of the threads, but none seem to address exactly my situation.

Any and all help gratefully accepted!

Sorry for your and his family's loss.

Now onto the KS page, to be brutal the reward levels are set much too high. $50 for a physical book + pdf is huge + postage.

Alot of potential backers will wonder who Steve is, so they're more interested in the stories of his work and the unique artwork - I think you should approach the campaign from this angle, rather than asking them to support a guy they don't know.

The campaign page needs alot more of his images on there too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. That does help a bit.

Honestly, though, the reward levels are fairly bare-bones. The book printing costs are high (and I got a number of quotes), and the shipping prices are also crazy here in Canada. I felt the reward levels were high, too, but if I set them any lower, I would have been losing money.

Point taken about the images, though. I'll start to add some more...

Thanks again!

Keith, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

Several years ago a fellow featured his efforts to promote his book. I think you'll find it interesting: http://bit.ly/2xqSjeq

Best of luck,
