What are the video/page stats like for your campaign?

I wanted to get an idea of what everyone's video/page stats are like for their campaign. This is a frequent question I get on CrowdCrux and twitter as to what is an "average" conversion rate or video completion rate.

Dang that is pretty nice. My first Kickstarter(tinyurl.com/woodenw) lasted 24 days, got 35 backers, 211% funded at $1695, with 554 video plays, 44.22% of plays completed, the first video I had was 1 minute and 33 seconds long, while the second video was 6 minutes and 51 seconds long. As for rewards, my most popular was the $30 reward followed by the $45. My most profitable reward was the $45 reward which made 20% of the money raised. Most of my backers came from external sources at 60% of total backers.

My current kickstarter(tinyurl.com/Justisbulpens) is 10 days in, 10 backers, 24% funded at $395, with 102 video plays, 11.76% of plays completed, and the video is 5 minutes and 27 seconds long. As for rewards, my most popular and profitable reward is my $35 reward with 53% of the money raised. Most of my backers come via kickstarter, at 70% of total backers.

So far I have learned that even though my video completion rate has dropped dramatically, my backer to views rate has increased from 6.32% to 9.8%. So my project seems to be doing better content wise, but the promotion is going much slower than I would like. I would attribute that to the fact that I had a major cross-promotion for my first kickstarter, but I have had no such luck for my second one.

@woodenwriter - well I'm going for slightly bigger funding goals (goal = $3750, stretch 1 = $7500, stretch 2 = $10,500...), and I did considerable social networking in the two months prior to start of project, plus, I have a known reputation for my cartography on many sites - I'm not an unknown, in the industry, so that helps too.

For example, I just started as the Cartography columnist for G*M*S Magazine (too late for great effect to this Kickstarter), but still it helps some.

Mine is also about 50% Kickstarter as a source of backers, and 50% non-Kickstarter.

Small point to add to this data. How many Facebook/Tweets have been shared of your video - look beneath your video on your Kickstarter project page. This would be a subset of total views, indicating a potential backer interested enough in your project to share your video with his circle of friends. I think it's a significant factor to include in a talk about video views.

My current stats: 10 days left, 189 backers, 222% funded, $8,352 in pledges, 565 video plays, 46.55% plays completed, 104 Facebook shares.

I did a little research on the topic using stats posted by Kickstarter for the most successful campaigns:

My campaign (failed): 961 plays, 9.6% completed (I have a trailer on my video), 194 backers (20.2%)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sys ... /dashboard

Successful Campaigns (analytics reported on Kickstarter):
Amanda Palmer ($1M): 155,637 plays, 24,883 Backers (16%)
Pebble ($10M): 957,344 plays, 68,929 Backers (7.2%)
Makey Makey ($500K): 379,580 plays, 11,124 Backers (2.9%)

653 video plays by the end of funding, now gone up to 742 afer funding ended. 50.05% of plays were completed. Project was 102% funded. :)

I had 66 backers, so approximately 10% video to backer conversion rate. 76% of backers were from external sources such as direct emails, Twitter, Google+, Linked In and my personal website. I didn't look at page view stats. I have posted a more in depth breakdown here http://www.kickstarterforum.org/statistics-and-info-from-a-small-but-successful-project-t968.html

It's early days for us, in two days we've had around 600 plays of which 35% to 28% are completing. For us it's quite difficult to understand whether we should be looking at changing the video because it's so early.

Also i'm wondering on the technical validity of 'completed views' and how they tell?

The reason is that the only way they might be able to tell is a post back to the KS site on video completion, or by seeing if all the data has streamed. A lot of people watch the video and view the page at the same time. We have a fade out on the video, so people may not watch all the way to the end. On mobile devices if people are out and about they'd cancel the video play. I can think of a myriad technical ways in which the video wouldn't complete.

It would be so much more beneficial to have a metric with 90% played rather than all of it.

Also KS don't provide visitor stats either, it's obviously a conscience decision and we glean stats from bitly and the methods we're using to generate traffic. I wonder what the reason is though?

Our campaign is : http://kck.st/1eFrq3i

Would love feedback on the video length or anything, always!

cheers
Paul

We have 12 days to go, 103 backers, 37% funded

We've had 570 video plays with 61% completed. Seems like this is a pretty good completion rate!

And it looks like we have 367 Facebook shares (no Twitter shares)

I have 554 plays on my video, 36% funded, and 49 backers. Seems like a lot of plays for a little amount of backers.. Maybe I need more content in the video to discuss the project in further detail.
