Did you use headtalker or thunderclap? And why?

Hi,
I can't get a great grasp on "headtalker vs thunderclap". I've searched and read every possible article/discussion on the two, but I still can't get clarity. I would love a clear reason to pick thunderclap over headtalker (since it's been out longer) but there seems to be no clear advantage to justify such an expense.
(I don't think thunderclap being in existence longer, and thus a possible bigger network, would imply that it gets more exposure since I don't see random strangers doing the social sharing without you first reaching out.)
One minor thing is thunderclap's visuals overall looks slightly better (bolder) to me, but I don't know if that helps others in following through with the task.
thanks, angela

Hey Asum, How are you doing today? I have used both for a long time and would like to add my two cents:
Headtalker is a generally more flexible platform. While Thunderclap has better visuals, I don't believe this gives it an advantage. Thunderclap also has a minimum support count of 100 whereas Headtalker's minimum is 25. This makes Thunderclap harder to leverage for short term campaigns as you don't want to come short of your goal.
Everything that Thunderclap offers for $500, Headtalker offers 100% free. If you need a time extension, just send HT an email and they will change the campaign's end date. They do also provide fast responses to emails, generally within a few hours (and sometimes within a few minutes). You will also have access to campaign analytics from your account dashboard and you have no limit on how many campaigns you create.
Headtalker also allows you to add a monetary giveaway/prize (minimum $20) to your campaign. This can be used as a way to market your campaign and as an incentive for people to join it as well. My most recent campaign is up to 170 supporters and I have only been promoting it for the last 10 days or so.
My most successful campaign on Headtalker to date was supported by 412 people, with a social reach of 3,420,216 people. If you'd like some information on how I marketed my Headtalker for free to get this many supporters, send me an email or a pm (as my answer is too long to add here).
Thanks mate! All the best with your campaign.
Kind Regards,
Jake

Thanks Backertree, you shared a lot that confirmed pieces of information I gathered all over. If you don't mind me asking candidly: I do notice you have been very very positive on headtalker (for good reason I can see), so I was wondering if you guys have a personal relationship or a collaborative one? (cross promotion....)
--which I totally understand too. (Crowdcrux has numerous affiliations but the information is very useful.)
Thanks, angela

Hey Asum, not a problem
I sort of know the owner of Headtalker just through email correspondence regarding campaigns (as I have created alot) but not on a personal level. I don't have a partnership or cross promote or anything like that either at this stage but I would recommend Headtalker based off personal experiences compared to other platforms that I have used.
There are so many businesses/websites getting involved in the crowdfunding industry to make a quick buck, and when someone is offering a completely free service that is legitimately helpful, I feel no reason not to help with promotion.
I am working on setting up a crowdfunding blog at this stage and I am going to write a social reach (Headtalker/Thunderclap) promotion guide but I won't have the time to complete that for another few weeks. In the meantime, if you contact me via my email in the forum signature below, I'd be more then happy to piece together a list of promotion points to help you get a few hundred campaign supporters
Have a great day!
Best Regards,
Jake

Hi All, I tried Thunderclap initially but it was hard for people to follow the instructions and support the page. I was getting constant messages that they supported but when I checked it didn't show up so I had to walk them through the process. Then I used headtalker and it was amazing. It is easy to follow, lets you chose a smaller goal and is free. Thunderclap started little earlier so might have more reach but I'm sure headtalker would catch up soon.
Visit our page for more information on Global Tracker we are building and launching kickstarter soon!
Thanks,
Ishaan

Thanks fellow Canadian! Will try to keep an eye out for your launch (just fb-liked ur page) (my page is 'byasum')
Interesting to hear it was less clear on head-talker. It wasn't cause you maybe put together better instructions or something second time around?
(I do wish 'head-talker' had a better name... head-talker is not as obvious to me, tho 'thunderclap' makes very good sense--to me though)
thx

After using headtalker briefly I have to come back on here and just say they are the choice just for their customer service. Very quick responses, and also very nice. I initially missed the 'academy' part and was confused since I didn't get my answers on the 'FAQ', so I sent them a huge list of questions. They were so nice to answer it all... I realized after I could have found the answers on the 'academy'. (I think it takes a lot of patience for tech ppl to not want to point you to the manual...)
So thumbs up for headtalker!
Feel free to support my headtalker here (please don't though if you are like my husband with just 4 twitter followers.. ha ha.. I rather not inflate the numbers I mean...)..

We used Thunderclap and chose that one for a rather basic reason, the popularity of it compared to Headtalker. There seemed to be a greater range of projects on Thunderclap when I looked into it as well. Our main concern was that we had more an International/European audience who didn't know anything about crowd shout out platforms so we figured it would be better in that case to go with the one that was a bit more establish/had a bit more press about it. However, I totally agree that Headtalker seems to be more flexible with their options and more advantages for those wanting to use the free service and not having a lot of time beforehand (the Thunderclap free option can take a few days to get approved).

Thx @Youmo That was really the only reason i was considering Thunderclap but I thought you have to pull in your crowd to do this anyways, so I'd think neither really has more exposure--its just more security if anything for your crowd (if one seems more safe).
Actually I don't think any of my friends in the US,with the exception of maybe a few techie ones that likes to follow startups, know about crowdfunding or have ever heard of neither platforms. Even a few never have ever pledge to a kickstarter or know what it really is...
