KS Campaign duration - 30 or 60 days?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before.
What are people's thoughts on the ideal campaign length.
Kickstarter claim that a 30 day campaign is more successful as it creates a sense of urgency, however my thinking is that a 60 day campaign gives the creator an extra 30 days to grind away and get it out to more people. If the super early bird/early bird rewards are enticing (and limited), wont this also create urgency?
Love to hear everyone's thoughts...

30 days is better, actually I think KS recommend around 26 days but don't quote me on that. Plus there's info on say launching between tues to thurs, 8am EST and other stuff floating about.

What project are you launching (thanks on FB for the like btw!), need any help?

Thanks for your input @giftsandcoupons. I'm hoping to launch my first campaign early next year. I've still got heaps to do before i'm ready.
Have you done a kickstarter/indiegogo campaign before?

Hi Stephen,

I haven't ran my own KS campaign, I'm not creative enough to come up with a great idea yet.

If you take a look at my site, I promote campaigns and we write about them on the gifts site. I also do consulting, working on campaigns at (preferably) pre-launch to when the campaign goes live.

My focus is finding influencers in your specific field, contacting individuals directly and finding those who have written about your competitors in the past.

I wrote a piece you might find interesting on the Top 100 Crowdfunding Influencers:

If you need any help with your campaign (pre-launch stage?), feel free to get in contact.

The longer the campagn the less trust is given to the project. On past project, it's been evaluated than the trust of the creator in his own project to be founded in a short time gives confidence to the backers.

However, the christmas time is know as been less powerful and lots of project last 45 days in this periode.

I'm totally in doubt on what to do!!!

On one side I saw that the best campaigns are no more that 40 days; on the other I think that more days = more money... I'm going to ask 20K $ but I really hope to reach a little bit more...

good website to check is kicktraq.

I'm new to KS, but I'm postponing my campaign after Christmas; I believe that people spend money to have something ready under the three

I just read an article on KS campaign. For an average of $10K project, a 30-day project has a success rate of 35%, while a 60-day project has a 29% chance of success, with all other factors the same.

:) Also it depends on what time of day you're launching, which day you're launching and if you're launching during holidays.

I also think tax season might play a part in Crowdfunding too. Perhaps after people have paid their taxes, they feel like they have more income to spent with the worry of saving money long gone in their minds.
