I've heard of them, but never used them myself. For me I'd think - is $379 really worth it. What could you spend that amount on for the campaign which could help you more? If the answer is still use BackerClub, then go ahead.
I would focus finding out - who you should be contacting (online magazines, press etc.,) and who your competitors contacted too, because this is v specific and targeted.
Also don't they take a % if it's successful too?

I used them. I got like 7 backers at some point. my project wasn't funded and I got my money back the exact day my project ended. no complaints here.

We have a live Kickstarter campaign right now (
www.purascents.com).
One of our backers actually emailed us telling us he normally he only searches for campaigns in BackerClub so we signed up. It's been 24 hours and we've made over $1000 just from their backers they sent our way. That's in the first day so yeah I'd definitely sign up again!

I created my first Kickstarter campaign not too long ago. You can find me at Kickstarter.com/profile/jptac. I was skeptical but they have been nothing but awesome to me! Without a doubt it was worth the very limited spend I have for marketing on my first campaign. Mark, one of the owners, has been great to work with. You WILL receive a lot of spam. And unfortunately it is difficult to know which companies are legitimate, and just trying to generate business for what the do. This is compared with the spammers that can do very little for you. Backer club has been great to me and I will continue to use them for future campaigns. They actually do care about the community and do things ethically. Those are just my two cents from a first timer. This is an awesome community if you use the right partners to work with. Best of luck! (Just edited my website link to the right address…FYI)

Used backerclub - got some backers in the first few days, however, the project didn't reach the overall funding goal. Got my money back within several hours after contacting the team. Would use again.

Yesm they are actually pretty good. The only one that I tried that actually got us pledges. It works because you offer their members discounts. None of the others that are contacting you will be of any use.
