How to improve KS performance?

Hey all! So I'm quite stumped and could use some serious advice.
Back in 2013, I launched the first Kickstarter for my webcomic here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/na ... full-color
It didn't so do great. But I figured out why!
1] I asked for a lot of money
2] I launched it at a really bad time and
3] My rewards might've been too many to count
I launched a second one in the spring, away from the holidays and with a much much smaller goal. We funded!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/na ... ickstarter
Now we launched our new one on the 8th and... it feels even trickier than the last two.

It's been really tough to get anyone to notice this. We spent weeks ahead of time promoting it, our webcomic audience is bigger, we made a much punchier, shorter video that gets to the point faster, we're promoting it once a day on social networks [twice a day on twitter] I promoted on the last two Kickstarters, on our main site [http://lighterthanheir.com] and this book in my opinion is better than the last. So I'm not sure how the heck we blew our load so early. I know we still have 16 days left, but man, what happened? Am I just greedy? I think maybe I screwed up somewhere. Kicktraq's already predicting we're going to fail and that's a huge bummer.

I contacted all of these guys, and no response yet http://www.crowdcrux.com/20-bloggers-an ... mpaign-to/ and my social network posts don't seem to get much traction.
Sorry if I'm whining. It just baffles me! It seemed like I was doing everything correctly THIS time.
Any advice? It would stink to fail AGAIN. Thanks.

Hi!

First thing I noticed in your text above is that you've got alot going on...alot of ideas, alot of words :)
- Maybe if you're approaching sites and blogs this way, it could put them off.
- How did you approach them? Email or social media? Buying adverts or asking for a free review?
- If contact someone for help, what do you offer them in return?
- When you spoke to them before and they were engaging, did you stay in touch with them afterwards?

As a potential backer, I just want to see what makes your comic stand out, why I should back you...not know what struggles you've had (most KS campaigns have struggles).

On to the campaign, I think the background info you gave is about right. The tiers look to be right too, although it's strange why the higher amounts are more popular rather than someone just wanting to grab the webcomic only.

The eyes of the girl character freak me out a bit though. Maybe too big or too close together, not sure if anyone else commented on it.

Good luck!

Haha, I was unaware I was pitching the Kickstarter here! I didn't want to break the rules!

But what makes my comic stand out over others? It's unique; it's an action adventure military comic that's set in a Germanic world and tells the story of a girl who overcomes her warhero father's shadow. She can also fly. This world has a touch of steampunk in the way "what if flying machines never existed" and instead there were flying people. It's not a common trait, but it's not a secret either.

When I approached the blogs I used email. For the smaller blogs, I offered my services to bring attention back to them. More readers! For the bigger blogs, I promised a quality product. I have faith that people will like our comic if they give it a try.

Haha, as for the eyes, well, you're entitled to your opinion!

Thank you

What sort of services are you offering to blogs? Just trying to work out why people aren't promoting you....

Services? I told them I can bring traffic back to them by plugging them. I'm sure my readership would be interested in their sites

Anyone have any experience running Google paid search directly to their Kickstarter campaign? or to their site that has a "kickstarter" splash page?

nalem,
I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat but this is my first kickstarter campaign.
I feel that there are waaay too many live projects and the new ones get buried all the way at the bottom.
It takes me like 5 mins of searching to find mine on kickstarter.

good luck with your project and let me know if you find the magic way I seem to be missing ;)

Well Nalem did it and got fully backed congrats!

Would be great if you explained how you did it, but I'm guessing you were in contact with your previous backers?
