Hi Everyone - my first post here :)
We launch our campaign on 9/29 - nervous n excited... Making some final tweaks.
Question for you: how do I add the FB, TWITTER links to my project? And more importantly, do those generate new backers...
Amongst family and friends we are still facing challenges on explaining what Kickstarter is! So will the other leads from FB and Twitter even understand?

Appreciate comments and suggestions... Thank you! :)

It depends on what goals you are pursuing

But why not? More likes and shares= more backers.

Furthermore you can use it in project goals

Example: 1000FB share = every pledge includes candy :)

If you have lots of potential backers that don't quite understand how Kickstarter works, it would be a good idea to have a page on your site that will explain them how Kickstarter works, maybe a nice infographic or a video. And don't make it a general explanation, it should be more personal explaning how Kickstarter works for you.

Thanks Vanessa... that's good advice... we might have to do something like that... right now we are spending a lot of energy in educating people about kickstarter! phew

We have found that by using the social links many people may not make the first purchase after seeing the social media posts but it helps to provide product awareness. Maybe sales marketers talk about how it takes 7 touches before a customer will make a purchase and these social media posts can make up a few up those required points of contact.

Thanks Scott - yes, we are facing issues... we have more than 230 likes within a few days, but only 4 conversions from Facebook... so many people do not understand the concept... our graphic should be up there tomorrow explaining how KS works based on Vanessa's suggestion above. Hoping for the best.

Yeah let me know how it goes, with your 92 Backers so far you should be able to better engage them during the campaign and get them to spread the word.

Have you looked into services like backerclub yet? Mark is a great guy to work with.

Yes, we are already on backer club as of this morning. We have sent an update about the same and mentioned easy ways for backers to spread the word - let's see.
