Hi guys!

We are launching for the first time a Kickstarter campaign, we have been reading and following so many tips, advice and tutorials. We feel comfortable in all the different areas but when it comes to the video script and realization.

Could you guys give me tips or recommend me some professionals that could help us with the script writing of the video? I would Also like to hear your tips and Do's & Don't for the video.

We know it should be no more than 2 min and we know about the structure of it but still we dont know how to word it.

Any help will be highly appriciated!

Thanks!

If I were you I'd look for local video production companies and see if any of them can help you. They'll have the experience to know what will look and sound good on camera, and might appreciate a creative brief to help with your script.

It's absolutely worth the money - it'll help you look professional and like you pay attention to detail, unlike a badly lit, echoey video of you stumbling over your words.

I am currently working on my Campaign hoping to launch in October, I found a local College graduate that is working part time trying to launch her own Photography/video business. We were able to work out a reasonable rate, and she has been very flexible. I am helping add to her portfolio as well as giving her over all business and policy advice (my strong suit). It helps to give a little.

Hi,

I found someone through a friend of a friend, but I think going to a university is an excellent idea - especially if this is a graduate student, or an undergrad who knows their stuff. Ask for a reel, look at their work online - either for professionals or students before you say yes.

What I'm doing is:

Create an Excel Spreadsheet.
Then write a script with these Kickstarter tips and with each sentence, write next to it what video image you want to pair it with.

- Tell us who you are.
- Tell us the story behind your project. Where'd you get the idea? What stage is it at now? How are you feeling about it?
- Come out and ask for people's support, explaining why you need it and what you'll do with their money.
- Talk about how awesome your rewards are, using any images you can.
Explain that if you don't reach your goal, you'll get nothing, and everyone will be sad.
- Thank everyone!

I'm still in the storyboarding process with this video maker, but this spreadsheet is helping us envision the project.

Also - watch videos and see what inspires you!!

Creating a promotional video is the best idea for making your fundraising campaign a great success. Keep the concept of video simple and to the point. Don’t beat around the bush, get to the core idea of the campaign and indicate its significance visually. Location, lighting, sound, and art of editing are most important for making the campaign successful. As such, for the script writing take care of using the quite common language and say it directly.

All the best for your video based crowdsourcing campaign..... :D :)

Creating a good video is one of the key factors to get the attention of potential donors. Talk to other successful crowdfunding campaign owners and watch their videos for reference.

Hi,

When we filmed our video I found it hard to remember lines, so we filmed line-by-line and used 2 camera angles (to hide the takes). If you do do this, I'd recommend you keep looking at the camera once you've stopped talking. On lots of takes I looked down at my script immediately after I'd finished a line and it made editing difficult!

We also had our primary microphone fail and had to use the camera audio. We didn't think about audio too much going in, but in hindsight it's one of the most important parts. If the audience can't hear you clearly it's game over. Especially as a portion of your audience won't have English as a first language.

Here's the video if your interested: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/li ... n=aba8dfe2

Good luck with your video,

James

I agree that the video should include the topics references above. I see so many KS videos that just focus on the product and not the creator or the "why" factor. Look up up "Golden Circle" by Simon Sinek. Perfect example of how a KS video should be positioned.

Just a quick question: Since it has already been said, that the video itself is very important for your overall campaign..should you even do it yourself or engage a proper firm with the task? I think the answer of masssocial was pretty good, and we tried most of it, but ended up with a mediocre video when doing it ourselves. Therefore we concluded to hire someone. Any thoughts?
