What do you think about celebrities turning to crowdfunding

I may have something cooking with a top celeb & we are debating to begin it all with Kickstarter. Any thoughts?
It works, just check out how popular Nathan Fillions new project is. I think it has to be the right type of celeb, needs to have an independent spirit or a niche following,
Personally though, I think if you are a big celebrity then why not get the money elsewheres. It should be easy of you are popular and the project is good. In my mind crowdfunding should be reserved for small startups and artists who can t get funding through more traditional means.
But hey its a democracy:)
