This is a question for project creators...

...in your experience, have you found that people (the general public) tend to know what kickstarter is? Or do you usually have to explain it?

In my experience from doing this for two years or so, most people do not know what Kickstarter is and you need to educate them ahead of time.

Yea, its starting to sound that way. Have you come across any good 1-2 line break downs that describe what it is and how it works?

Im trying to put one together for my friends/family email...so far i have:

"If you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, its a crowdfunding platform where the general public can donate towards your project. If we are unable to generate enough funds to meet our goal, then your card isn’t charged, and we don’t get any money. The flip side however is that there is no limit to how much we are able to generate and keep. It really is all or nothing!"

not loving it...

So I talked about this a little in this one post: http://www.crowdcrux.com/what-no-one-te ... ou-launch/

You can download the image another creator used on the forum here to explain Kickstarter: crash-bang-wallop-working-title-t2502-30.html

Think visuals work better than just text.
