Question about Stretch Goals

Im setting up my campaign and I have 3 very distinct goals that require 3 different levels of funding.

Given how Kickstarter works "all or nothing", my thinking is to set my funding goal at the least amount needed. But state upfront that i actually have 2 other goals and they are X and Y.

As an example goal 1 is to produce my project with open market components for $5000
Goal 2 is to expand my current line with additional color/customization options for $15,000
Goal 3 is to tool custom hardware for my product as well as expand color options for $50,000

Question: As a reader/backer would you rather know this information up front? Or should i save them for updates throughout the campaign?

Thanks and best regards,
Kirk

As a backer, i recommend you should set it to the least.
I don't think many backers would really care about the goal(as even you fail, they won't lose anything)
So to them, it's all the same whether you set it $5000 or $10000 (in my opinion)
So i would suggest you just set the minimum fund you need for your product, and set the stretch goals for them to know your development.
It would be the best for you and the backer i reckon.

As a backer, I'd like to know some ideas that you have for stretch goals, as it kind of gives me a vision of what the project can be or will be. They don't have to be concrete though.

Thanks for the feedback! Im curious about the backer way of thinking so im glad both of you were able to bring that to the table!

I definitely plan on making it clear what my end goal is, and that it can definitely be accomplished with $5000. BUT for those that really like what we are doing, im also going to say so right up front so they know that I do have plans and would put extra funds to good use.

As of now, the stretch goals are vague, even though i have a pretty clear plan on what i want to do...as the campaign progresses and if I surpass my initial goal, i will start to release more information about the next stretch goal to stimulate buzz and keep people in the loop.

I think thats the best way to go about it.

Thanks again for the feedback.
