Crowd-sourced fundraising site Kickstarter has dropped Amazon.com Inc. as its global payments processor in favor of Stripe, the fast-growing startup used by Twitter, Facebook and Apple.

The switch comes as Internet retailer Amazon begins to move clients from its customizable checkout service to an Amazon-branded one.

For backers, this means a simpler, faster and easier checkout process. No more being redirected or having to log in to a separate service. It takes half the steps, and it all happens on Kickstarter.

This is great news. Although it does make me want to push my project launch back a few weeks until more people are registered into the new system. Nothing beats one-click ordering!

Does this have any affect on fees, or is Stripe gonna take as much percentage as Amazon did?

For regular Stripe users payments can only be pending for 7 days before they have to be captured.
Wonder how Kickstarter gets around that?

Finally! Having backers routed to Amazon just complicated things. After all, not everyone is familiar with KS so hitting KS after being linked from your own page - the amazon was a reason for many to hit the back button
