So many people love my project and I know they are not just telling this to me to make me happy. Yet, they assume when I reach out to them that I am asking for a "donation." That is because they are unfamiliar with Perks. Also, it is a literary project and so many people say "I would love to read it when it gets released" as if I should give them the Ebook for free like it is a blog. Even when I ask support for $1 it is basically all or nothing They will either want to buy it or not. Yet, it seems hard to get people to buy my book in the same way it is hard to get people to want to pay a $1 to download a cool app. Since almost all other apps are free! How can I start encouraging people more to claim perks
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/19 ... -year-2020. I am so annoyed with "I have no money to donate" or "spent all my charity..." etc.

Just to be clear, this is family and friends? Or just random people?
And I guess you iterated to them that the point of this is to raise funds so that they *can* read it upon publication? As in, if you don't get enough money, there's no publication for them to read?

Hi this is definitely random people not family and friends. I also advise these people about the need to get people to pre-order and contribute.

Yea, a lot of running a project has to do with education marketing. Most people don't even know what Kickstarter is or how it works in my experience. Might be helpful to create a one-page guide or graphic.
Andy, who wrote a helpful blog/thread put one together:
