Advice on getting to the next level?

Hi Everyone,

We launched our Kickstarter campaign 3 days ago.

We had a good start, reaching 30% of our goal in the first 3 days, but we are a little worried that almost all of that funding came through "friends and family" and are struggling to reach the next level.

Any comments or suggestions?

Any feedback on our page?

Interesting that you have had all your initial support from friends and family. We have struggled to get our friends and family on board.

I am now trying to do as much social media as I can and learning fast. I have paid also to join backercamp and for a facebook ad to see if that is successful. Backercamp will retweet your tweets which i have heard is key to getting the message out there.

If I have some success in the next few days, I will let you know.

Hope it is going better for you

Hmm.. Have you tried doing any promotion on Reddit?

@onesuit Did BackerCamp yield any results?

I didn't think of reddit as a platform - so have now signed up. Is there Also special etiquette for reddit? I've read about the spamming and upvoting....any other tips?

Haven't yielded any results from Backercamp. :-(

We now have 44 backers but only small pledges. SO maybe it's our product and/or our story.

Find out where your target customer likes to hang out on the internet and target them there.

It seems that these websites that prelaunch your campaigns don't really work. I haven't launched my campaign yet but I'm curious how to go about doing it as I don't have a big social media following. It seems that those who do do well otherwise you are relying on friends and family. I don't think it's just about the product you have to be popular too.

Yes, I agree.

It is hard to rely on family & friends......particularly when they are working and may see their pledge as a donation to you. I think some of my friends are thinking "why don't they just get a loan"?

Social media is hard work, you will start to feel as though you are getting there once you start getting re-tweets but still they don't convert into pledges.

It's a lot more hard work (& thankless) than you expect.
