How do you find out if your project is w/in the guidelines?

I've been working on a project for 1.5 years now and I've gotten a lot of media attention around me (Today Show, NBC, ABC, CNN and lots of newspaper and radio shows). My next thing is to bring it to Kickstarter. All the major networks will help promote my project. . My project is kind of a grey area. I've read the FAQ 50 times. Some people say its within the guidelines, some don't. I even emailed Kickstarter and they wrote back "It might be, but I'm not sure. Please read the guidelines" UGH!! I don't want to spend 5 months prepping for this Kickstarter only to find out that it is not allowed. Is there anyone that knows the INs and OUTs of Kickstarter? I don't to post my project on here for everyone to see, but maybe you can help me off this site. If its not allowed i know there will be a way we can tweak it to make it work, but just need some guidance. If anyone can help please let me know.

Thanks

Hello, you will have to read over the guidelines and see if your project falls under that. It's not a long read and we can't really tell you if it meets the requirements or not if you don't give us every detail. They will give you a specific guideline before you create your project and will work with you to make it launch ready.

Wow! it's really surprising that Kickstarter wrote back and gave you a non-response. I probably would have preferred an ignored message.

I would read this thread and go from there:
