Tempted to cancel my project before it ends

I'm beginning to wonder whether people will actually want to buy my product when it's available, seeing as I've only managed to attract two backers, both of whom I know.

I have less than 12 days to reach my goal and I'm worried that my project will be unsuccessful and then be listed permanently as 'unsuccessful' on Kickstarter which may be detrimental to my business.

Has anyone else cancelled their project before it's due to end?

This is the link to my project. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2134301343/wearable-art-jewellery

Many thanks

Hi Tah75 - Yes, I've seen people cancel their project before it ends and then relaunch after figuring out what they did wrong/taking more time to plan and be successful!

Two examples of successful relaunches are:

Wow! Very beautiful artwork. Do you sell on etsy at all? Is there any reason you decided not to do a video?

I like your art jewelry concept. The lighthouse and sailboat caught my attention. I'm not sure about cancelling versus letting it go to the end. I'm thinking that what's most important is that you don't give up. You clearly have talent and it's just a matter of changing up some things. A project video would really help as would building a strong group of supporters pre-launch. That said, my own campaign isn't exactly on fire at the moment. I'm not sure my own campaign will fund but I will be back if it doesn't. I hope you will do the same.

Thank you both for your encouraging words. I did make a video but it was so bad that I decided not to upload it. I'll make another one though without me speaking in it.

I suspect maybe my funding goal is too high, however, that's the figure I estimated in order to achieve 100 pieces for the antique and vintage street fair. I will definitely re-evaluate this and bring the goal down. Thanks again.

Let the project run to the end. You can always relaunch later if needed. Jewellery kickstarters are difficult, I have just done one. It can be done! But if you are not successful this time, do an extensive prelaunch campaign to drive interest in your items before you start the next one. Also, a video does help and you need a really good image to head the project. Your main image does not show a jewellery item, it shows a picture. This does not help backers find the project in the first place.

Thanks DrLouisehughes, I have now changed my image. I have also uploaded a video. The link to the video is better than the uploaded one. What do you think?
