Does saying that you'll donate part of the funds helps ?

Hi all,
You sometimes see campaigns where you have "For each of my object bought, I'll donate 1 $ to Greenpeace", or 1$ to plant a tree, or save a koala...
Does this really improves sales ? Or it has minimal impact, if any ?
