The best way is via a well designed landing page on your website which explains exactly what you're doing and the benefits of visitors adding their email (first look exclusive, early bird discount etc.,)

- If you're in a hurry then Facebook or Google Ads would be useful. So you're targeting your ideal audience and directing them to your landing page to sign up + collect their email.

I know that a way some people do it is that they create backer surveys, Note that once your campaign ends, you'll have access to all backer info.

I've never believed in using giveaways to get email sign ups. Sounds good in theory but practically, people sign up for the freebies and not because they are interested in your product. You get so many sign ups but no conversion. Besides they know it's easy to unsubscribe after they get what they want.
I'm only offering discounts on rewards. Even after my facebook ads, sign up has been slow but atleast I know that the few leads are interested in my products and would convert better when my campaign goes live.

ijmeribe, You're right about that, but the thing is that you don't give giveaways to your subscribers, Viral Contest is like a referral system and you give a reward to the referrer who gets you most subscribers.
