Kickstarter or Indiegogo

Hello,

I am putting together a campaign to raise money for a mobile wood fired pizza oven. I am struggling with deciding between Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

I really like the flexible option on Indiegogo but I also like the brand recognition of Kickstarter. Plus there are more successfully funded campaigns for pizza ovens on Kickstarter.

Help!!! What platform do you feel is better for my type of project? The cost of the oven is just under 17k, however I could get it funded if I only raised around 10k.

Thanks so much,

Joe

Hi Joe, weigh the pros and cons of each platform. The best option really does depend on your campaign and it's relevant to clearly understand your audience. This blog post may be of help. https://www.krowdster.co/blog/the-one-t ... thout.html

Which option did you go with in the end? I have never heard of Indiegogo, is it good?

I suggest you go with Kickstarter because of its brand and popularity,

Indiegogo has great support, Kickstarter has 0 support, best setup is to go live on KS first for 30-45 days and then do an in-demand on IGG.

I would recommend to start on Kickstarter and then move to InDemand on Indiegogo.

I had the same question. Honestly I hope that Kickstarter gets crowded out of the space because I think that Indiegogo has a better presentation, and they don't "prefer" artsy projects like Kickstarter does, which is counter-intuitive because of the name. Indiegogo has a better presentation, better emails, and more flexibility. I think it's dumb that Kickstarter won't let you sell equity. In the meantime, though, I did a poll amongst my followers and a vast majority thought I should use Kickstarter because of the brand recognition. So that's what we're using!

Hi Joe,

I'm faced with the same dilemma. What did you end up choosing?

I believe I am headed toward the same path Ruth and Emma mentioned, which is KS first followed by Indiegogo InDemand. It seems to make the most sense as you can't do it in reverse - KS doesn't have an InDemand feature. Going this route seems to allow you to capture the best of both.
