Her Project http://kck.st/1DUSbhL was successfully funded. I am running my own right now and backed hers because I liked what I saw. I dislike projects where little effort has been put into the promotion and description. There are so many out there that seem to lack a plan. I'm sure a number of them are just looking for hand-outs. http://kck.st/1BtAMgE

Yea, I agree with you. It kind of turns me off when people just seem to have thrown up a page, because how can I depend on them to see through with the commitment to deliver on their rewards?

I can't speak for others, but I personally spent nearly three weeks composing and recomposing my presentation on Kickstarter. I would put it together and then get input from one source or another, advice from one source or another ... my first presentation was so wordy because I can be quite wordy. Then I was told to edit it so I did. And after my editing, I was told that people want more words.

So, what I'm trying to say is that I don't think that people are not putting forth the effort, I think they probably are. I like to think the best in people. It could just be that they are getting advice from one source or another that tells them to do something different and they want to put forth the best presentation possible and when you're doing that, when you're putting yourself out there and your passion - tea is such a great passion of mine - is out there for everyone to see, it's a little intimidating (or a lot intimidating).

It is difficult for me to promote. I'm not going to lie. I grew up in a household that cherished pride above all else and asking someone for something is difficult. I know I'm not asking for a handout, I'm simply asking for a pre-order on the teas that I'll be creating, but it's still a difficult thing for me to do and I've learned a lot along the way, mostly learned what I shouldn't do.

Anyway ... I just wanted to offer my thoughts on this.

Hi Anne I checked your project and it is obvious that you have put a lot of thought and effort into it. What I was referring to where people have put little or no effort into their presentation and are basically just asking for money. i.e. I have this great idea for a book and I need money so I can take off time to write it. That might be a bit extreme but some projects almost read that way. My project just funded about an hour ago and it took a great deal of effort to make it happen. I wish you all the best - jump in with both feet because if you believe in what you are doing you shouldn't be afraid to ask. :)

Paul:

Congratulations on being funded, that's awesome!

I understand a little better now what you mean by not working at their presentation. Yes, I agree with you on that, it does bother me when I come across a Kickstarter where it would seem that they put little or no effort into what they put on there. I did some research but not nearly enough and I wish I had done more to better my chances on my campaign.

As it is, though, even though I only have 4 days left, I'm still quite hopeful because there is a local supporter that I think is going to back me on Monday.

In the last 30 days since I launched this campaign, I've worked harder than I've ever worked in my life trying to make this campaign happen - it is a lot of hard work unless you've got kittens that explode (and I don't think that would make very tasty tea although it could make for an interesting plot for a book).

Very true Anne and I know what you mean by the hard work my daily writing routine has suffered from it. Good luck ,
