From defeat to relaunch

A year ago, I launched an ambitious campaign with a plausible publicity plan. A lot of my assumptions about the value of followers of partners were disproven.

Today, I launched a reboot of campaign. It is currently about 10% funded, with 24 days to go.

Here is what I did since the unsuccessful campaign:

* After the first campaign died, I launched a smaller, similar one to capture the enthusiasm, and to appease the disappointed.

* I retooled my strategy, and, most importantly, figured out a smaller budget

* Recently, I have been dropping hints that the project would come back.

* I posted an update to the old campaign, declaring that "Pink Sands is not dead"

* I sent out all my normal social media, especially on photo sharing sites, my niche.

So, what else should I be doing? I'm all ears. If you want to look at the campaign (an art photobook of unclothed models) it is Pink Sands on Kickstarter

Hi, I think perhaps you shouldn't of relaunched so quickly.

Couple of questions:
- Who has viewed your campaign page - what did they think about it. If it's just you and your friends, it may be too centered around your thinking.
- Your niche is quite specific, perhaps you needed to link up with similar sites (I know of a couple from my head) as it's artistic nude, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I would of built up your profile a bit, put together an email list of who's interested and promote yourself.

Hope this helps, if you need any further advice on perhaps targeting influencers in your niche, let me know.

shouldn't have relaunched so quickly? I waited a year to relaunch Pink Sands. How long would you have waited?

"link up with similar sites" -- This is a bit vague and generic. It is through repeat collectors that I make 90% of my income. In contrast, I have 4,000 followers on Flickr, accounting for less than 1% .

I think the best advice any project creator can have is to focus on their core offering. For me that means making sure my art follows my philosophy and that I work as hard as possible at creating it.

Err yes a year is plenty of time! You didn't write it so I had to guess it was an instant relaunch :)

Regarding linking up with similar sites, I meant in your niche - yes it's vague too. It's good you've got followers on Flickr, but how about established Glamour/Artistic Nude sites. Do they know about you? My thinking is you need people who are interested in your niche > then make them aware of your site. Artists might be interested too, as well as photographers (and photographer groups) but they might want explainations of how certain shots were produced.

Is your book "Coffee table" friendly, the look and feel of these types of books are just as important as what's going on inside.
