Hey guys! I'm James, photographer and writer. I'm planning my trip to Vietnam for my next photography project. I launched a campaign for it on KS. You can check out the link below

Problem is I've never been to Asia. I've heard so many crazy things about traveling in Asia. I'm excited but a little nervous myself. Any one out there has been to Vietnam? You've got some tips for me? All inputs are appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

Hey JS, Have you heard of the book series Lonely Planet? I've never read it, but one of my friends swear by them. It could be a good supplementary guide to having a local with you. Are you going to eventually market yourself as a photographer for hire? If so, would be nice to see a website with your previous work. Would be good to have if you're also going to be selling photobooks and posters. Will the posters come framed, or arrive in an envelope or a tube? Also, double check spelling on Viet Nam. When would you be taking the trip? Anyway.. Good luck on your campaign!

Good luck good luck, traveling and experiencing a culture is always the most magical thing on earth. It is not something you can read from a book or hear from others. I am from Asia, and also travel a lot. Haven't been to Vietnam but most of other Asian and european countries. Maybe can start by learning some of their key phrases in their language. In addition to lonely planet, I love books from eyewitness travel a lot, there are more photos and easy-to-understand history.

Definitely try amazing local food! You will be surprised by the diversity of food here in Asia, all different even among closeby countries. I am working on my first kickstarter project too, and it is about sharing a special Chinese culture with others - Tea - have a look:
