Hey,
Has anyone tried fiverr to get backers? I am talking about paying for shares or getting feature on fiverr. I haven't but would like to know if anyone has. I guess spending $5 to try wouldn't hurt.

Myself and my partner each spent some money on there trying to boost our project. One was to get us listed very high on the popularity charts for our category. It worked, but didn't bring any pledges.
The other was to get a couple small pledges and comments. Also, did not help get any other backers.
You could back my project for a $1 since I just saved you $5 haha.

I received probably 15 of these type emails as soon as i launched mine...I just assumed they are scams or useless seeing as though the email was very general and they all say " your campaign has grabbed our attention " ....maybe im wrong , just dont feel right

I've thought about trying fiverr. One gig in particular had a twitter account that would share your campaign to their network. Not sure about it though but one or two extra backers can never hurt.

I guess it will depend on your pledge tier amount

I have considered it, but I just don't see the value in it. I'd rather spend the fiverr on purchasing a press release.

Fiverr has a lot of short range gigs people offer, but picking out which ones will actually help you can be difficult.
For example, there are people offering to sharing your project link with their 1 million Facebook fans. Sounds great right? Except that the Facebook page is all about sunsets and although your project will get posted to the followers, they probably aren't going to care to actually click your project. (unless your project happens to be about sunsets)
There are people offering advice and feedback on your project, which can be helpful, as well as people who will write press releases or submit your project to new sites. These can be useful, though you have to gauge based on your needs and exactly what they are offering.
I recommend avoiding any sort that are mass messaging/spamming of your link as that won't do much good. Even those who offer to write a blog post about your project are only useful if they are in your niche and have a real audience. Getting tweeted to 100,000 spam bots is not going to be as useful as getting your project shared to 100 people who are actually interested in what you're doing.

^Great feedback. I considered fiverr as part of an advertising budget but those dollars can more than likely be more effective if allocated elsewhere.

I've used Fiverr a couple of times for my projects. You pay $5 and they usually pledge $1.00. Some of these Fiverrs have actually made pledges! For the buyer (you) you're out $5.00. For the Seller (pledger) they get $5.00 less $1.00 that Fiverr keeps and whatever amount they're pledging, so they don't make much money on it.
I'd recommend you to try them. Do a search for "Kickstarter" on the site then look at which ones seem like they would be a good fit for your campaign. I especially like the ones who will add a comment and the pledge.
I think it's worth a try not only to promote your campaign but they have some amazing photoshop people but you have to wee that one out also.
