Hello Everyone!

We’re Octa, a team of eight artists, engineers and friends constantly striving to merge beauty and functionality. We are best known for our evolutionary TabletTail accessories system which provides tablet users everywhere, from young to old and everyone in between, accessories that unlock the mobility of portable technology. In February 2013, we launched a Kickstarter project called the Monkey Kit, to continue improving the physical connections between people, technology, and our environments through the introduction of our MonkeyTail and Vacuum Dock for comfortable tablet use in bed and on the couch.

We are back to let you know about a second Kickstarter project to introduce a new, universal tablet positioning system so you can use your tablets in ways that were never before possible! The project includes four new TabletTail components—the Spider, Bridge, Clamp and Wall Mount—that allow you to stand, grip, wrap, hang, and use tablets in endless environments through modular, interchangeable parts that can be paired to create your own, personal tablet configuration.

Follow us on our evolutionary journey and check out our Kickstarter page here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/octaproducts/tablettail-a-universal-tablet-positioning-system to learn more and help support our mission to unlock mobility!

Love,
Octa

Seems like you guys have gotten some pretty good traction so far! What have you learned from running the campaign?

Overall, we have learned a lot since our first Kickstarter project! Partway through our 2013 Kickstarter campaign, we decided to offer our WhaleTail, as an add-on which complicated the fulfillment of our rewards. Kickstarter doesn’t offer an add-on module, so backers had to manually increase their pledge totals, which in turn led to many inconsistencies when we cross-referenced our notes with pledge total numbers. We had to a send ton of messages and invoices to compensate for over- and under-pledges.

We also learned various ways to prepare for our next Kickstarter campaign, such as focusing on creating an engaging video, putting time into designing a page that was reflective of our design and company, and lastly getting our rewards into a great place. Two additional points to remember are to engage with the community to help spread the word and while it may be easy to focus on the present Kickstarter project, it’s also important to focus on non-Kickstarter business priorities because in the end, project managers need to be able to ensure the timely delivery of their product. It takes a lot of time and patience, but we are excited to see what comes out of the last 9 days of our campaign!
