Hi All, I'm an 27 year old aspiring designer, have been lurking the forums for a while, and just thought, I'd chime in and share our recent watch Kickstarter campaign:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/76 ... -watches-0Has been a passion project of mine for the past 2 years now and its been quite exciting to finally get it to this point.
A few things, we have learnt so far:
1. Don't rely on your friends and fam too much, other than maybe a little traction.
2. Do extensive research on any Marketing Agency you decide to work with, too many sharks out there..
3. Being active on social media can go a long way, but most importantly its all about the personalized approach, take the time to connect with your followers on an individual basis.
4. Facebook Ads - after trying dozens of audiences and even a Krowdster superbacker database, still haven't figured it out, so hire someone who knows what they are doing. (if anyone has any tips would be appreciated)
5. Cross promote
6. And most importantly, believe in yourself, there is always a solution.
Any feedback or other suggestions would be much appreciated as well.

This has been helpful, thank you! Question though: How do you go about cross-promoting?

I would suggest sending a message to the creator of the crowdfunding campaign to start a dialogue. It would make the most sense if your campaigns were similar in ways and could possibly share the same audience.

I just started my first kickstarter on raising fund for a set of cat inspired lapel pins,
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/20 ... oween-pins, and that's really helpful.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi davink91,
Congratulation to your successful funded & thank you for your tips!
Our campaign has just launched 3 days ago, the first day is not bad but we got only 1-2 pledged on the 2nd & 3rd day.
The effort on our promotions & social media does not appear yet as Facebook & Twitter Ads for Krowdster superbacker database also can't find target audiences.
Will try the press release from CrowdfundingPr to see if they can help!
Do you have any suggestion or comment!
Many Thanks!

Your first point is a good one, but a frustrating one - before I launched my first Kickstarter this week, I read a lot about asking your friends and family for help with pledging or at least spreading the word. So far in my friend/family group, only my husband has pledged (and he sort of has to because I'm in charge of dinner), and then my friend has reposted it on instagram, and other than that, nothing =P
Fortunately my campaign is over 100% funded so far, but it's still a kick in the teeth when your friends and family just offer a "Good luck with that!" or ignore the messages! D:
Although your original post is a few months old now, congrats on being fully funded so quickly!

Thanks for these tips! Very insightful.
Those facebook ads are really mysterious - we paid for some promotions - we now have 1,100 people who like our Facebook page but very little engagement on our page. I feel like all those likes...might not be adding up to a lot.
I'm launching tomorrow! Wish me luck!!
