Yes. The poster was correct. Good incentives are key and social proof essential. There are hundreds of campaigns where there isn't even a picture of the person who created the campaign! People are wary of being rip-off and information about who you are is absolutely essential in order to establish trust. I think too many people think that if they post a campaign, strangers will just support it.

I also agree—incentives are very important! And so is the image you portray. You and your friends may know you're trustworthy, but you need to earn strangers' trust.

I'm uncertain about using the word "begging" however in relation to a campaign. I think these endeavours are about much more than asking for money.
