Is Kickstarter a good platform for fashion brands?

Today’s question was submitted by Erika Hanna, a member of the growing CrowdCrux community!
“Hi Sal. I’m a little concerned about my Kickstarter. I launched it yesterday at 1pm and so far we are at $600 and my goal is set to $20,000.
I was wondering if you think it has anything to do with the market. Do you think that Kickstarter is a good platform to launch a fashion conscious brand?”

I have the same question. I'm going to launch my first campaign with the waterproof jacket with special pocket for a tablet. The campaign will run in August. Do backers usually treat well cloth projects? Thanks.

Is the campaign for the development of the product (like a prototype) or is it to launch the business of selling the jacket/clothes? It is definitely possible to launch a clothing line through the platform. Revolution apparel was successful in their campaign. Are you trying to actually build the company of Kickstarter have you decided your method of equity crowdfunding or reward crowdfunding? Fashion brands can definitely be launched via Kickstarter just have to determine whether you are looking to fund just the product or your fashion company as a whole. There are some great tips on launching a small business via crowdfunding that might help you out.

Hey,
I've just launched a pyjama collection on kickstarter. In the last 5 days we have raised 40% of our target. I find the hardest bit is building momentum. Any ideas how to promote the brand?

Well why not, at least it is worth trying. Save this
neiman marcus customer service , probably this company has nice co-operating and affiliate deals for you. The more expensive brand is, the bigger are your profits.

At the end of the day, if you can connect with the right peeps and spread the word about your brand, it could work out great. And don't forget to utilize other channels like Instagram and email marketing to reach a wider audience. Just wanted to share, I stumbled upon
https://happygentleman.com/product-category/formal-wear/3-piece-suits-for-men/3-piece-wedding-suits/ and they look pretty sharp. As for Kickstarter being a good platform for fashion brands, it really depends on the target audience and marketing approach.

I think it's definitely possible to crowdfund a clothing line. From my experience, I get excited browsing clothing projects that are unique, or that embody something that aligns with my values.
For example, if I want to feel more feminine and classy, I would look for brands that help me get there. The same concept applies to environmental activists, fitness enthusiasts etc. - given that Kickstarter and creativity go hand in hand, I'd say go for it!!
I found this article about do's and don't's for Fashion on Kickstarter, it is definitely worth a look:

Hope this helps!
