Sports funding however, was able to create enough space and room for the entry of the equity model, that can work perfectly for sports clubs in football those are faced with financial constrains. One such example of equity funding is the Darlington FC, that was able to raise 110% of their initial target, for which they were offering 14% of equity in the club.

Interesting read. This seems like a good extension of sponsorship where the benefits of a deal go beyond just branding and marketing, to ownership and deeper ROI.
