How to Run a Kickstarter Campaign. And other things...

Hey there,

I just wrote this little post in the middle of our campaign. I thought it'd be a good idea, or at least interesting to update my friends and our follower as to what we've been up to, and what this whole crowdfunding process is like.

You know when you're at a pool party, and someone is near the pool telling you the water is fine, but you're skeptical as to whether it's warm enough to enter? I'm definitely having that, 'jump in the pool to discover it is freezing.' feeling right now. I'm in it. The campaign is live, and I'm in cold water. I just hope it warms up pretty soon, or heats up outside. Either result works for me.

Curious to hear thoughts from others who have been through this, or any ideas particularly in terms of finding new audiences.

Hi Mark, I read the article and saw the KS campaign.

Initial thoughts are that it looks great visually, you can see that a designer is involved. The backstory on each of the characters is a little weird but in a cute way. I think it reminds me of Adventure Time.

I see you've got alot of backers already and are at 10% which is good. It's also good that within a tier you're actually getting the product whilst other tiers you're getting add-on's so I don't think you need any changes with that.

It's complex a bit because you're targetting specific applications which are used mainly by professionals...hence they should know how to use Keys already.

So your target audience is one who are starting out - colleges/universities, work place students, kids...these are the ones you should be targetting. Maybe buying an advert in something like "w3schools" or another web design/developer site/forum which teaches people how to do stuff...I think this is a useful direction to take.

Perhaps you needed more "hype", or a soft launch to test it out with your audience, then record their email addresses to let them know about the launch plus use that data to back you up on the KS page itself.

I can try to give you a boost for free on our gifts site if you wish? Hope this crit helps...

Hey there,

Definitely helpful crit. Very much appreciated. Definitely with you on hype, and love the suggestion of focusing on schools, or places where people are trying to learn things. I haven't reached out to this market much at all yet. Great suggestions!

Thanks so much!

We just created this little game to promote the game and see how fast people are with keyboard shortcuts.

Hopefully this can help us out a bit as well.
