Kickstarter idea: BBQ

Hey all,
I'm trying to get a Kickstarter going for a book, and I know it's an uphill battle for books, but do you think holding a barbecue at a gas station would help get the word out? Pass out some flyers, some free hotdogs and hamburgers? Is that the type of thing that would work or would that just be a waste of time and money?
