Sometimes project launch timing can play a key role in the success of your campaign.

Especially if your product is seasonal, related to specific holidays, or related to some event.

Talking about seasonal products, one of the most funded projects on Kickstarter was the Coolest Cooler. This project was created by Ryan Grepper and if you click on his profile, you’ll see that he has created two campaigns and the first one was unsuccessful.

Creator of the coolest cooler told that there were a few essential mistakes he made in his first campaign: the goal set was too large, the design of the product was unfinished and the timing was inappropriate.

The original project was launched at the end of November and ended at the end of December, a completely inappropriate season for coolers. However, after 7 months Ryan decided to launch his second campaign with improved product and a lower funding goal.

This time he chose the most appropriate season for coolers—the height of summer. He launched the campaign on July 8 and just a week later, it has already raised over $5 million. Unfortunately after 5 years, at the end of 2019, the company announced it was shutting down operations.

Despite this, the Coolest Cooler remains one of the most funded Kickstarter projects and there’s a lot we can learn from it, especially choosing an appropriate timing if your product is seasonal.

This is so important! And I would add that in general creators have to consider seasons and festivities because of the availability of the backer to spend money on a specific product.
But I agree, especially for seasonal or festivities related products, this is incredibly important. Great video!
